You’re not haunted by the war, Dr Watson. You miss it.

He closes his eyes. He closes he eyes when he squeezes the trigger. Captain John Hamish Watson was not even looking at what he was shooting, and he still hit it.

not that i don’t agree that John is a badass

but in Lestrade’s defense, the police in the UK aren’t allowed to carry guns normally.  it has to be for for a special reason.

if he has the gun that means he’s had special training and Mycroft most likely let him have the gun for the case.

Lestrade unlike John is not used to firing a gun specially at a moving target.

so yes, John is a badass, he can shoot anything but it’s not Lestrade’s fault that he’s not John

The chemical in the fog turns you violent and makes you see your fears.

Lestrade’s division is homicide.  He deals with the worst of human nature all the time, yet he retains his humanity, his warmth, his integrity and humor.  He has his moments of rage.  But he does not want his rage to embitter him or turn him vengeful.  That happens to cops.  He doesn’t want it to happen to him.

Maybe the fog made him want to shoot to kill.  Maybe the way brave Sherlock fought against the image of Moriarty and overpowered it with his will, Lestrade saw himself shooting to kill and shied away from it, protecting the thing that makes him a good cop.

Just a little starry-eyed Lestrade headcanon.  :-)  <3

I’ve pointed out elsewhere that at this point, John is far more conscious of the fact that they’re hallucinating than Lestrade is. Lestrade is shooting at what he sees (a bloody big dog), John is shooting at what he knows is actually there (a normal sized dog). Lestrade probably did accurately shoot the dog he was aiming at - it just isn’t there so the bullet passes through.

(And if you look Lestrade closes his eyes when the gun fires the same as John does. John doesn’t close his eyes before he shoots - that’s favourable fan interpretation - which this post is an excellent example of if you read the comments you can easily pick out who the John fans are - and look at how we’re sticking up for Lestrade!)

SNAPE WEEK | Day 1: Favourite Quote

Snape’s breathing was shallow. “Her boy survives,” said Dumbledore. With a tiny jerk of the head, Snape seemed to flick off an irksome fly. “Her son lives. He has her eyes, precisely her eyes. You remember the shape and colour of Lily Evans’s eyes, I am sure?” “DON’T!” bellowed Snape. “Gone…dead…” “Is this remorse, Severus?” “I wish…I wish I were dead…”

Friendly reminder that anyone born between 1985-1998 didn’t get their hogwarts letter because Voldemort’s ministry wiped out the record of muggleborns

Oh Sinnerman, where you gonna run to?

John Watson + Anger.

Did you mean John Watson + How he is 99% of the time?

Baker Street? He isn’t there anymore. Why would he be? It’s been two years. He’s gone on with his life.

Remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave.

"That’s not possible… That is simply not possible!"
